Changes to the ILA Scheme announced
Fiona Hyslop, Education and Lifelong Learning Secretary today announced a variety of changes to the ILA Scotland scheme.
The refresh is designed to make the scheme more effective and help us to deliver support to those who need it most. The changes will also ensure that ILA Scotland is well placed to support individual and workforce development, principal aims of the recently published Skills Strategy.
The key changes for the scheme, aimed at targeting those who don’t readily access education, include:
Opening the scheme to 16 and 17 year olds for the first time
Removing the requirement for a minimum personal contribution
Widening course eligibility to include work-related courses
Tightening course eligibility by removing postgraduate courses
